Dr. Norman Borlaug



The demise of this great American Agronomist, humanitarian and Father of Green Revolution Dr. Norman Borlaug is loss not just for the Agricultural fraternity but for the entire humanity.

A legend who helped billions from starvation in the mid 20th century has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 in line with helping to boost food supply world over and thereby restoring peace in many volatile states

Many countries adopted his technique; the high-yielding varieties to overcome the food scarcity world over.

India particularly, with more million mouths to feed, had no second thoughts while adopting his system that saved many from starving in those days.

India conferred him with the second highest civilian honor the Padma Vibhushan in 2006

Borlaug's discoveries have been estimated to have saved over 245 million lives worldwide.
